Hi guys!

So, things are flowing into our gallery every minute and we really appreciate everything you're all putting forward. All your hard work really shines through and we're really privileged to be able to showcase your talents. Thank you for all the support and keeping everything alive.

This is just a quick little update to ask those of you who think it's necessary to swear or take your anger out on the group when your piece is declined, to not do so. I'm writing up a little guide right now with reasons as to why your piece was possibly declined. As of late, a lot of (understandably) frustrated people have been filing the complaints in and I can't help but feel it is disrespectful to ask for anything more than just a quick reason as to "why".

We all want to improve, know where we went "wrong" and learn from our mistakes. It makes us human and it makes us artists. You learn from feedback. But there is no point ranting to us, swearing at us and complaining on and on to us if one of your pieces was declined. In no way does it make your artwork "bad" or "unworthy". We get hundreds and hundreds of submissions and our voting process ensures that the majority vote wins to help make it a little bit more fair. It is down to what the admins feel fits the general feel of the group, we like composition and conceptual pieces that make you stand out and think "That's art!" We like simple and abstract pieces which make you say "That's inspiring!" We love being different and pieces of artwork which just scream talent.

Art is incredibly subjective and what 1,000,000 people may like, 4,000 people may hate it too. It is all down to personal opinion and we feel we are incredibly level headed and as neutral as possible when it comes to accepting pieces into the group.

So please don't take it to heart if your piece is declined. It doesn't mean your work is bad and that we hate you. It is never a personal attack. And please don't retaliate with a sore attitude that your work is the best in the world. All we ask is that you try again with another piece and just keep on trying. You may be disappointed if you fail, but you are doomed if you don't try.

Keep the work coming, you're all doing a splendid job at it and once we get more members then we'll start some competitions and giveaways! :salute:

From the team!

The club has been gaining a lot of attention and new loving members which is absolutely fantastic! The submissions have been flowing in by the hundreds and we've all been astonished by the standard of art you have all been submitting, thank you!

However! We need you! We are now on the hunt for new contributors to bring fresh, interesting and inspiring art to the club on a regular basis. It doesn't matter if you draw, write or photograph - we are interested in everything and everyone. It doesn't matter if you don't think "you're good enough" or can't match up to anyone else who has been featured - we just want to see you for who you are, not who you are next to someone else.

So if you are indeed interested, please do let us know and we'll be in touch!

Keep it up everyone and keep spreading the word! [:

Hello all!

Thank you so much for submitting so much wonderful art, we've been overwhelmed with the amount of daily submissions and thank you all so much for filling the club with such beautiful pieces. Keep them coming!

A lot of people may be disheartened by their pieces being rejected and we want to stress that it isn't to do with abilities or skills. We have a lot of people who submit their entire gallery to us which is very frustrating to have to go through so we end up rejecting all of them out of exhaustion! Please do read the rules before you submit. A lot of other people were rejected on the basis that their submission didn't match our submission theme.

We do submission themes for the benefit of everyone. It's to keep a consistent look to the gallery as well as give you a little bit of inspiration to branch out and maybe try something new to submit to us. If your piece of art is exceptionally amazing or beautiful and doesn't match the theme then that is okay, we'll usually accept it anyway.

We have a new submission theme which is now "Dreams" so please start filling us up with all sorts of new goodies. We're very eager to see them.

Keep it real and keep spreading the word about bringing back the real art to DeviantART!

Aloha!

So Summer has set in firmly, the mercury is soaring and our diets are all consisting of ice lolly after ice lolly. This is the time of year we all live for, and now it's finally here - why not celebrate?

We're halfway through the year already and this group has really picked up and taken off. We have had so many amazing new members join and share their incredible work with us. Thank you all, keep it coming! For those of you who think this group is only for the "leet" then don't worry - we consider everybody so please do not feel intimidated. So long as you don't spam us, we're more than happy to submit as much as we can which is relevant.

So please take as many Summer shots as you can and submit them to us. We're going to work on some new guides and hopefully release some free actions too only for our members - so we're going to have a productive time. Please also do tell all your friends to join our army of youthful and fresh artists who are determined to bring real art back to this site!

For those of you in the southern hemisphere, we haven't forgotten you! We know it's Winter with you so why not submit your old Summer shots or tell us what you're looking forward to about your next Summer?

Can't wait to see what you all come up with!

Cheers,
Nathan & Kitty

28th December, 2009

Greetings all! Hope everybody is having a wonderful holiday and you're all ready for 2010! In an attempt to make this place a little more alive, we've converted to a group to take advantage of all the various little additions deviantART has kindly added, so please join by clicking the "join this group" button at the top of our page and give us all your support!

deviantART needs our help to be a better place more than ever, and with the addition of the new group features, we now have an easier way to let your submit deviations! Those who have submitted deviations to us over the past few weeks may have noticed that we didn't post your peice; please use the new method of joining the group and submitting your peice as detailed later in this journal to get your art in our galery in a much better way!

We have plans for a few new guides over the coming year; some guides we had planned didn't pan out as we found fantastic alternatives which we'll detail here soon! We'll get the "Operation: Random" up to speed a bit better soon, and we have plans for a more successful apprenticeship program using the new group features, so stay tuned for more news here!

Hopefully the new features will help us to be in contact with you all a lot more often now, so you'll be seeing a lot more action around this side of the woods from now on!

For now, happy holidays to all! Keep the holiday submissions pouring in, hope to have you all as members soon!

Cheers,
Nathan & Kitty

Hi there everyone!

Well, it's been a long time. Too long. So now we're back and we're back to crack down on the attitude of this place once and for all. It's time for us to pull our socks up and go all out, and we need your help!

For now the Apprenticeship Program will be discontinued. We had an amazing turnout and we apologise to those of you who did not find the program helpful. It was merely created to help you all discover one another's talents and we may open it up again in the near future, so watch this space!

We also need new deviations for our gallery! So the new theme for the month of July is: Macro. Feel free to submit your art to us in a note and we'll be more than happy to put it up for you.

Thank you for all the wonderful support, comments and favourites. Please keep up the amazing attitude to make this place better once and for all! We'll be round a lot more often from now on.

Nathan & Kitty.

Hey there everybody!

Hope you guys are enjoying the new deviantART! To celebrate, the photo theme for this week is 'Parties', so give us your craziest shots of the best parties you have!

Not much to report in the way of new stuff on our end, but we still have some new projects that we're working on bringing to you that still aren't quite ready! Rest assured though, it'll put Bring Back Art on your daily map!

That's all from us, enjoy your day, and keep spreading the word to bring back the art!

Update!

As you may have noticed, out sub has just run out! I was literally in the process of adding this journal when it ditched me, so if anybody is feeling kind, a sub would be muchly appreciated! Otherwise, this place will be like this until I can get around to getting us one! =S

11th July, 2008

Hey hey! How's all going everybody?

Just a catch up message really from us! We're working on some new projects to ring together our community even more, and when we touch up some final details and get a bit more time on our hands, we'll fill you all in with what we're up to!

The submission theme has been updated, so make sure you check it out and get those entries in for this weeks gallery! The theme for this week is 'Bright', so give us your brightest photos!

25th May, 2008

We had the Good Comments guide translated to polish! Check it out!

Keep your eyes peeled, we're going to be adding some new projects up next week, which will be a lot simpler than the other ones we tried to pull that kind of...died...due to our inactivity, I might add. Don't worry though, we will get around to resurrecting the Apprenticeship Program soon!

What do you guys think about campaigning to get our, and other, comment and critique guides listed in the official dA FAQ? That was the suggestion by zodiac1805, and we reckon it's worth a shot! It'd definitely give us a vague idea about how much the admins really do or don't care about the state of dA...

Tell us what you think over at the poll we created!

23rd May, 2008

Yikes! Where to even begin? As most of those who follow this club will know, we totally killed it with out lack of motivation and effort. Things have been really hectic lately, in terms of me and Kitty both finishing school, and now that is all over and done with, we're back, and ready to rock the place!

However...did somebody say competition?! Go and check out the journal on it for more details!

5th July, 2007
Let's get the party started, with some new CSS action.

We got a DD on our guide! A bit of a late reaction I know, but we have been lurking around here, contrary to how it looks. A big thanks, from the bottom of my heart, to Kitty, for putting in heaps of work to get through a lot of the work. <3

More coming soon. I hope you have your competition socks on.

3rd June, 2007
Yikes! Sorry for the neglect, just been so tired from school and such lately! Plus, I have to admit, I kind of forgot about all of this! Oops!

Anyways, updates coming soon to all our stuff! The apprenticeship program is going to get a kick up the bum, and everybody will get some help from us (finally) to get started! The Operation: Random program is going awesome, everybody has participated exceptionally well! We encourage you to keep it up, and let us know hoe you're finding it!

I know I keep telling you I'll put it up soon, but the receiving comments guide is finally up. Check it out, and make sure you let us know if it helps you! And please, spread the word, we really need as much support as we can get!

So apologies for the long span between updates, try not to let it happen again. Check the submission theme, there's a new one up. =]

17th May, 2007
The Apprenticeship program is up! If you haven't already seen who your partner is, you'll be getting a note soon from us telling you. Otherwise, take a peek at the apprenticeship journal!

16th May, 2007
The Apprenticeship program goes live tomorrow! We'll be updating the journal in the evening with the final partners. If you're not listed, you'll get a note explaining why. If not, make sure you tell us! We hope this works out well! Please remember to at least try to stick with your partner for a week or two, and if things really aren't working out, make sure you let us know. Spread the word everybody, now we're seriously bringing back the ART!

Also, submission theme has been updated, keep the great deviations rolling in!

6th May, 2007
Hey everybody, sorry for the lack of activity lately, schools been VERY busy. I've posted some new journals on our two big projects, operation: random and the apprenticeship program. Read those for info on what's happening!

Also, I've changed the theme for submissions, should be a little easier this time for everybody, so please don't be scared off, be creative!

My apologies on the long delay on the receiving comments article, it's so close to being complete, I just need to proofread it and post it, so it should be up whenever I get 10 minutes to do it...

Thanks to everybody for your ongoing support, we've met so many great people though this club, you're all just amazing! Look forward to your ongoing friendship!

25th April, 2007
Okay, so we're gearing this place up a notch. We've got out gallery open with a theme, so all entries are welcome. We decided to open the gallery to advanced critique, and we'd appreciate it if members could comment a piece or to to give artist support.

However, this update I'd just like to find out how much interest we have in an apprenticeship type program, where artists work together to critique each other and help each other with styles and collaborations! If you're interested, just say so in the journal, and if there's enough people, we'll start this sometime next week!

Also, another amazing idea from one of our members, this weekend, we're going to start operation: random. Basically, the challenge it that you set your home page to deviantART's random deviant page and take a look at one random deviants gallery everytime you open your browser! We want to see how many deviants can get involved!

21th April, 2007
Really quick update, the submission process is now love, see below for instructions. Part two of good comments will be posted ASAP, but for now, I've got myself a dinner to attend! Toodles!

20th April, 2007
Hey guys, okay tomorrow we open for art submissions, but we've decided we're going to have a surprise theme going! So for a period of time, you can only submit deviations that represent the theme adequately. We have the right to reject deviations that don't.

Also, we're prepping the second part of our series on comments, this time on how to receive them. It'll hopefully also be up tomorrow.

We're also exploring the possibility of an apprenticeship type project, where artists are adopted by other artists, and together they give critique to each others work. Let us know what you think.

Just thought we'd give you an update, as it seems like nothing happening around here, but get ready for big things, because it's all going to happen soon!

18th April, 2007
Posted our first article, Deviant Guide: Good Comments. Check it out!

17th April, 2007
Added information on submitting art to the club. We've had a huge amount of interest in this, so read the section on it below to learn more.

16th April, 2007
In just a matter of days, we've uncovered a large portion of deviants who obviously feel the same way as us! We need to bring back the ART together! The amount of support has been overwhelming, thanks to everybody who's made this possible! We're beginning to plan our mission as I speak, and we're going to start by helping everybody make good comment! We'll have some articles posted by next week, keep an eye on this journal for more details.

Thanks so much to jahg who bought us a one year subscription! You rock!

13th April, 2007
Just getting this account underway. We'll let you members know exactly what we're going to do to help bring back the ART soon, but in the meantime, just hang tight while we think of great ways to do this in the most entertaining way possible!
